A viewer asked why Chinese AI models are so much cheaper: efficiency, subsidies or energy costs. The answer runs through chip constraints and distillation, then lands on margins, pointing to the gross margins disclosed in Anthropic's S-1.
Iman. Three or four. I'm sorry, two or four. I'm sorry. One or four, I think. One or four. Thank you. Got it in the end. I got you before, right? It's
been a long pod.
Number one, why are Chinese AI Market cheaper? Is it due to greater efficiency, government subsidies, or lower energy costs? That's from ROIR 4770. It's an interesting. I think necessity is the mother of invention. They didn't have the big chips. They didn't have the compute. So they optimized for smaller or RAM-intensive models when RAM was cheap. They obviously borrowed from US models as well, so they didn't have the same R ⁇ D. And the biggest thing actually is that they don't do margins. So the Anthropic S1 was just interesting because they have huge margins, like 80%. And so did everyone else. And we all thought they were running at cost. In fact, they weren't. So with that optimization, with that distillation, and with, again, the need to drive these things down, they did it. And the final element is sometimes just superb engineering. The deep seek details that came out of their inference, like it was astonishing when they released their inference stack how efficient they'd made it. And that's just good engineering, full stop. All right, Alex.
All right, question number four. Is Microsoft's voluntary exit first have to admire the Orwellian double speak? Is Microsoft's voluntary exit offer to 60K employees an early sign of AI-driven job displacement or corporate restructuring? This is from PCN2B. This is a pretty weird future present that…
one. Nice. All right. I think number six is for you, Alex. You want to take it?
Okay, six asks, does chain theory strengthen the case for simulation theory? And this is from JSBGMC6613. So as I was developing chain theory, and again, with the obvious caveats as a preliminary matter, these are very early days. This is a baby theory. It's still developing. Lots of room still…
