Opposition research

What your opponents say on podcasts, word for word

Candidates and surrogates talk loosely on a two-hour podcast in a way they never would on TV. We transcribe the podcasts that matter in full, so your oppo team can search every candid remark, get an alert when a target speaks, and quote it with the source attached.

Sputnik connects to your AI agent over MCP. Add it once in Codex, Cowork or any other MCP client, and your agent can search every transcript, read whole episodes, set up alerts and write the memo, quoting the source for every line. You ask in plain language and check the work.

Data you can't get anywhere else

Most podcasts publish no transcript, and media monitoring tools only read the title and the show notes. We run the audio through our own transcription, so the whole conversation becomes text you can search.

What you get

Full transcripts of the shows that matter

We transcribe the podcasts that matter ourselves, every episode in full, with the speakers labelled where the audio allows it. For the other shows we track, we use the publisher's transcript when there is one. Not a summary: the exact words.

Candid, off-the-cuff remarks

Long-form audio is where people lower their guard. A loose comment 90 minutes into a friendly interview is in the transcript like everything else, and you can search for it.

Audio that text and TV clippers miss

Podcasts are dark media for most monitoring tools: they are audio, so they are not indexed. Our index holds the spoken word as text, next to tens of thousands of newsletters.

Alerts when a target speaks

Save a search for a candidate, a surrogate or a policy phrase. New matches arrive by email or webhook within the hour, with the quote, the show and the episode attached. Your agent can read them too.

Surrogate tracking and message discipline

Follow everyone who speaks for a campaign. See whether they stick to the approved talking points, and how the message shifts between a mainstream show and a niche activist one.

Quotes you can put in a press release

Every hit carries the exact wording, the speaker, the show, the date and a link to the episode, so research holds up when it goes to the press team or into an ad.

Instead of listening by hand

An analyst listens to a two-hour episode to find one remark.

You search the transcript and read the paragraph that matters.

You only hear about a podcast appearance after the clip goes viral.

An alert reaches you within the hour of us picking up the episode.

You hand-transcribe a quote and hope you got it right.

You copy it from the transcript, with the speaker and episode attached.

You track one candidate at a time, on the shows you already know.

One saved search covers the candidate, their surrogates and every show we track.

Your research stays yours

Questions

Which podcasts do you cover?

We track 5,000 podcasts and 18,000 newsletters. We transcribe the podcasts that matter ourselves, every episode in full, and for the others we use the publisher's transcript when there is one. Politics and policy coverage is growing, so tell us which shows matter to your race.

Can you add the shows my opponent goes on?

Yes. Email peter@helpfulintelligence.co with the shows. We add them and transcribe new episodes, plus the episodes from the last 90 days.

How quickly is a new episode searchable?

Usually within a few hours of publication. Alerts run every hour after that, so a hit reaches you up to an hour after we pick up the episode.

How accurate are the transcripts?

Machine transcription is very good but not perfect, and names are where it slips most. Every hit links to the episode, so check the audio before a quote goes into a press release or an ad.

Do you cover YouTube and video podcasts?

Only when the show also publishes as an audio podcast, which most do. We don't index shows that are only on YouTube.

Who can see what we search for?

Only your team. Your searches, alerts and collections are private to your team, and the people and shows you track are never notified.

How do I connect Codex or Claude Cowork?

Add Sputnik as an MCP server and sign in with your Sputnik account. There is no key to paste. The steps are in the MCP docs.

Can my whole team use it?

Yes. The Startup plan covers up to 20 people, and the Scale plan has no limit.

What does it cost?

$200 a month on the Startup plan, after a 14-day free trial. You add a card when you sign up, nothing is charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel any time. All plans are on the pricing page.
