Snell's verdict on the iPhone Duo, Apple's first folding phone: brilliant, weird and a work in progress, with even Apple's own apps visibly struggling. He contrasts it with Apple's usual careful year-over-year grind and says it's instructive to watch the company figure things out in public.
I'm not a white phone person.
…too numerous to count. So this was when you'd had not too long with the duo. You've had many more days since. Where are you with it right now? We're going to go in detail on as many areas as we can possibly think of on this device, but kind of top level, how are you feeling about the iPhone duo?
…and being like, yes, this is it. We thought of everything. And you make your first folding phone. And guess what? You can't do that. You just, you got to be, I mean, they may act like it, but seriously, the iPhone duo is very much a all right, let's try this. And then what they give us is just the end result. And the iPhone duo just feels to me very much like a kind of product that is still in the works and still they're still figuring it out. And we're all going to…
Yeah, absolutely. It is. Like, this is a product that is an exact example of the reason why we do this show in the first place. Right. It's like, here's something interesting to try out and to experience and see how it progresses over time. Like when I, so, you know, I did the thing on first on…
I found the phone of a beautiful, active person who lives an idyllic life. Yeah. That's because of all the demos. Who really likes to
play a racing game?
