What People Say About Them

“She made them while sitting next to Troy Jackson, who is in a dead even fight in Maine, a state that is a five or six point state in favor typically of Democrat candidates. I think this is going to blow up on her in a bad way through the Troy Jackson campaign because he's on stage sitting next to her while she's saying all this. Now, it may be beneficial to AOC politically to be making these arguments, but I don't think these arguments are beneficial to be made in states where it is right now completely a 50-50 environment.” — Clay Travis on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show

Clay Travis said about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, in The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show on October 23, 2026.

Said by radio host Clay Travis on the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, 11 days before the 2026 midterms. He was reacting to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's answers on transgender rights at a Maine campaign event for Democratic Senate candidate Troy Jackson, where Jackson was running against Susan Collins.

…the areas that I think women would be the most vulnerable to rape is when men are allowed into women's private spaces while arguing that they're every bit as much of women as the actual women. The other part here, Buck, is, and I think this is significant, she didn't make these comments campaigning in California or even campaigning in New York or Illinois, someplace that is a deep blue location. She made them while sitting next to Troy Jackson, who is in a dead even fight in Maine, a state that is a five or six point state in favor typically of Democrat candidates. I think this is going to blow up on her in a bad way through the Troy Jackson campaign because he's on stage sitting next to her while she's saying all this. Now, it may be beneficial to AOC politically to be making these arguments, but I don't think these arguments are beneficial to be made in states where it is right now completely a 50-50 environment. And by the way, Buck Sexton of the early vote going on, you will be happy to know that on day five in Florida, Republicans are continuing to extend their lead in the early vote. That is, every single day since day one, there has been a growth in overall Republican turnout. And I would just encourage all of you out there that are getting discouraged, Democrats, I was tweeting about this, and I…

All right, credit to the dedicated men and women working with the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. They're helping vulnerable Jewish residents in France, Ukraine, and Israel. Since day one, some 45 years ago, the IFCJ's primary concern is reaching members of the Jewish faith in…

“If the Democrats gain control of the House, it's not clear that Hakeem Jeffries, who will be the Speaker of the House, is going to be able to control his caucus completely if he's got a few members who are members of the Democratic Socialists. And then he's got AOC, who is a kind of power base unto herself. And so it won't be easy to be the Speaker of the House if your Democrats are in control, for sure.” — David Rubenstein on Hakeem Jeffries and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Earn Your Leisure

David Rubenstein said about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, in Earn Your Leisure on October 15, 2026.

Said by investor David Rubenstein on the Earn Your Leisure podcast, in October 2026, when asked about the rise of democratic socialism in Democratic politics, including in New York City. He had just said he is a registered independent.

Well, what's your take on the political wave that's happening now with the Democratic Socialists, even in New York City, Mayor Mondani? And across, he's the leader, but there's this movement of Democratic Socialism.

David Rubenstein

I've been surprised at how much success it's had. but remember, we've had a small turnout in some of these elections that have occurred. I think the turnout for some of the primaries was 7% or so. In the United States, in a presidential election, you typically will have 65% of eligible voters voting. If you've got only 7%, you're probably going to have a different outcome than you would have if more people voted. But there's no doubt that the Democrats have to deal with this issue because if the Democrats gain control of the House, it's not clear that Hakeem Jeffries, who will be the Speaker of the House, is going to be able to control his caucus completely if he's got a few members who are members of the Democratic Socialists. And then he's got AOC, who is a kind of power base unto herself. And so it won't be easy to be the Speaker of the House if your Democrats are in control, for sure.

But what does it say about America when the wealth disparity has gotten so large. I think that's really fueling a lot of it, right? It's like people can't buy homes. People are struggling to pay rent. And it's speaking to millions of Americans that are fed up with the system that we currently have…

David Rubenstein

Capitalism is not a perfect system and it has its flaws for sure. Capitalism in Europe is operated much differently. There's a much bigger social safety net than we have here. higher taxes, but higher social safety net. Our country has gone for a different type of capitalism where the social safety…

This is about fighting for not just any change, but actual substantive change that people are going to feel in their lives. … Are they going to see us actually take these people on, or are they going to see us take their money and look the other way?
