…a program where We're trying but also we're building it and We're burning the timeline so It's pretty damning I think this Is an opportunity for you guys to be Like oh you know what? You're working For these companies. It's kind of indefensible at This point right do Want to take A stand on that

…And I do think Sam, you know, clearly he more than anyone, you know, survived this attempt to replace him, I guess a few years ago. And so I worry that, you know, we have a little leverage with the employees that are currently there, but if they all leave, then we might lose that leverage.

I also think it brings up the question of governance, though, right? Like, why are we allowing these companies to, like, self-govern? Like, this is the craziest part of it all is that you're building something that is so powerful. We don't allow automobile companies to self-govern or the aviation industry or, I mean, even food trucks. We have more regulations on barbershops and food trucks than we have on this technology that And these companies and they're being, you know, given the red carpet at the White House and the administration. I think that's where we as conservatives and Republicans need to say, hold on a minute. We might not like the word regulation, but what are we doing? We're giving them a free for all. We're giving them a free pass to develop this technology safely under their terms, under their conditions. That's just not acceptable. This it may be a new frontier. We may be. And this new era of technological advancement. And hopefully we will see, you know, beautiful outcomes. But right now, in my opinion, it's been a net negative. And so why are we continuing to allow these companies to self-govern when we have a government that's in place to protect…

I'm glad you said that, Brandon, because, Brandon, when you were giving your answer, I felt like it was too defeatist for my take, right? Because you're basically like, yeah, you know, we have to leave some people there because how else are we going to control Sam Altman? But then Brandon was like…

Brendan Steinhauser

Well, I think you can do both. I mean, I think that you can have governance, but you can also have people that, until we get that, that are still there, that are providing information, that are whistleblowers, that are trying to do what they can on the inside. And maybe this is the point or maybe…

Okay, there may be some merit there, because imagine all the Jacob Coxsons waiting in the wings at Anthropic, OpenAI, and so on. If they walked out, then it's like, okay, the government's going to regulate them to make sure they're safe. But it would certainly be nice if those people were then back…
