Jim Geraghty of National Review on the 3 Martini Lunch podcast, discussing a report that Sen. Ossoff says he will not run for president in 2028 and will serve a full Senate term if re-elected. Geraghty says he is speaking as an independent conservative imagining what Democrats would want.
They likely will not. What do you have on this one, Jim?
Sure.
…of Pennsylvania, for an all-Jewish Democratic ticket, really upsetting everybody who's upset about Gaza, but also just kind of recognizing that, like, you know, Pennsylvania is probably the single most important swing state. You nominate a governor who's been elected statewide a couple of times, probably going to win re-election by a wide margin. That would only help you in that state. And John Ossoff is probably going to win for the second time by a pretty solid margin in one of the seven most important states. And he's, you know, he's fairly young. And then like a couple months later, you announce you're running for president.
So I don't know whether he thinks he's got a shot to be somebody's running mate or he genuinely does not want to run. But I just found it interesting. And I think if you're a Republican... If he really doesn't run, that takes off. That takes one of the more intriguing chess pieces.
Off the board.
