“Friction, I always interpret as a gift because it's a feedback that architecture provides you. It's telling you something doesn't work, and that something might not be in the architecture space. It could be that maybe we design one thing that was working in the past, but now suddenly the team grows so much… the friction arises because probably we over-index on the teams, we should redesign the teams. Not necessarily the architecture is wrong, or distributed systems are wrong, or monoliths are wrong.” — Luca Mezzalira, The InfoQ Podcast

“One big difference between robotics models and LLMs is the challenge of backtracking. For LLMs, when you train things on the computer, if it makes a mistake, you can run back. You can reset the state and continue. … You can't really do that with robotics. The robot falls, and it breaks. You can't just run it back and get the same robot as before. So it makes exploration extremely hard.” — Chip Huyen, The InfoQ Podcast

“I use multi-agent a lot. … I actually built this protocol to let them message each other to make sure that you can coordinate and don't overlap. So what happened after that is that my task doesn't get done at all. It turns out one agent started forwarding tasks to the other agent. And then the agents forward that to another agent and then none of them do the work.” — Chip Huyen, The InfoQ Podcast

“Personal agents are the app that kills all software for consumption. When it comes to consuming content, buying things, it will most likely come through an operating system level agent… They don't want to visit your website. They don't want to download your app. They never wanted to do those things. They just needed an answer or a thing. They needed to snap their fingers and have it done. That's all we've been building for.” — Rachel Lee Nabors, The InfoQ Podcast

“I honestly don't know if I would tell somebody to go into CS today. Because there's also most companies at the moment are just not hiring junior engineers, too, which also feels short-sighted. At some point, everybody's going to retire out of the workforce, and who are they going to have left?” — Joy Ebertz, The InfoQ Podcast

“I also have had cases where I'm like, fix this test. And the AI was like, okay, I'll delete the test. And I'm like, well, technically, we don't have broken tests now, but not what I meant.” — Joy Ebertz, The InfoQ Podcast

“If you look at the post-mortem of the Hugging Face incident, it was described ... as I think like having 10,000 drunk house robbers show up all at once. And that sounds like a very chaotic scene. But I think that might kind of perfectly encapsulate where we are at the moment.” — Chris Swan, The InfoQ Podcast

“We've also seen projects where rewrites in Rust have introduced new logical flaws because, okay, you get memory safety, but it doesn't mean that everything's invulnerable. ... Getting memory safety from the hardware is ultimately going to be a lot cheaper than redoing all of the software.” — Chris Swan, The InfoQ Podcast

“everyone should probably take a chill pill… because I don't think that anyone will be out of a job anytime soon as software developers. I think the term that coding is solved is absolutely wrong.” — Ola Hast, The InfoQ Podcast
